Improving health during perimenopause to menopause
Menopause is a natural journey of every woman's life just as aging for all human beings. We all wish that we could get away from it but there is no hiding from it. However, knowing what to expect and managing our lifestyle in accordance with our transition of life can help us to manage our health better.
As we all know menopause occurs due to hormonal changes in the body. While menopause symptoms can vary from woman to woman, there are several wellness strategies that may help improve symptoms.
Take Care Of Your Physical Health
This is the single one most important aspect when it comes to managing your menopausal symptoms. Regular exercise can help alleviate many menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, and weight gain. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking, swimming, or yoga, most days of the week.
Maintain A Healthy Diet
Focus on consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Include foods that are high in calcium and vitamin D to support bone health, such as dairy products, leafy greens, and fatty fish. A nutritious diet is a great way to support your health and fitness and it will also improve the estrogen levels that usually drop during menopause.
Manage Stress
Similarly, like PMS women can often feel more stressed and sensitive during their perimenopause and menopause. So it's important to find effective stress management techniques. Try relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, or engaging in activities you enjoy and help you to relax.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep disturbances and night sweats are common during menopause. Practice good sleep hygiene by establishing a regular sleep routine, creating a comfortable sleep environment, and avoiding stimulants like caffeine or electronic devices before bed. Consider Alternative Therapies
Some women find relief from menopause symptoms through alternative therapies like acupuncture, reiki healing, herbal remedies (e.g., black cohosh), or certain supplements (e.g., evening primrose oil). Before trying any alternative therapies, consult with a healthcare professional to ensure their safety and efficacy.
Remember, every woman’s experience with menopause is unique, and what works for one woman may not work for another. It’s important to have the awareness to listen to your body, be patient and compassionate with yourself.
